Ouch!

Making my life difficult, this episode sees the tribes mixing up, meaning I can no longer go with the "Fans" and "Favorites" tags. Grrr. Making my heart break a little, one of my favorite Favorites (or should that be "former Favorite"?) gets injured. And making me giggle like a little girl (hee), another castaway is totally blindsided due to (in part) the awesomeness of Tracy. So onto the details....

Okay, let's start back on the misery known as Fans' Camp. Jason is bellyaching about the ouster of his buddy Mikey B., noting that this is not the tribe he wants to be in. Careful what you wish for, Jason.

Tracy and Chet, flush with their strategic success, celebrate. "Another one bites the dust, and it wasn't us," Tracy says, channeling Freddie Mercury. I'm sure Kathy B. would be celebrating with them, but she's probably packing her bags for yet another trip to Exile Island, where she now owns season tickets.

Over on the nicer beach, Ozzy hides the idol in a cave. Why doesn't he just put it in his bag, just in case something....well, something like a tribal switch, for example....takes him to a different locale? Can't answer that one, sports fans. I do remember those bully kids discovering Yau's idol in his bag, and they put it back, so I believe stealing the idol is against the rules. Well, of course, rules can change in SURVIVOR....just ask Pappy about the Purple Rock.

Ozzy says he won't show anyone the idol, and he seems to be true to his word....well, the letter of his word. He doesn't show 'em, but he sure does tell 'em. First he shares the news with James, then with Parvati and Amanda. They all seem thrilled, as though this will benefit all of them. Of course, if Ozzy had a brain in his head, he'd hold onto that idol for himself. After all, we know how useful idols can be when they're shared....right, James?

The tribes gather for the reward challenge, where the Favorites seem surprised to find Mikey B. gone. (All the money, of course, was on Chet.) Then surprise! Jeff tells 'em all to drop their bluffs and has them pick rocks to determine new team captains. Ozzy and Natalie win this honor, and are told to choose from the other team. Natalie's first pick is James - no surprise there, even though he tries to hide behind the other players. Ozzy's first pick is "Troy." Of course, there is no Troy, but at the rate the Fans were dropping, Ozzy may be better off with their imaginary player. He indicates that "Troy" is his pet name for "Joel," who seems to be thrilled to be picked first (a rose by any other name, you know). James chooses Alexis, Joel-Troy chooses Amanda (and Ozzy breathes a sigh of relief). In the next round, Alexis picks Jonathan (good choice!) and Amanda picks Erik the ice cream scooper. Jonathan chooses Jason (and flubs his name - did the favorites think they would never really have to deal with the fanbase?) and Erik chooses Ami. Jason insults Parvati by calling her "Poverty" (because you have to be a Favorite before you can call people by the wrong name, doncha know?) and Ami chooses Tracy. Parvati gets over the fan slight and picks KB (that's the woman formerly known as Kathy) and Tracy goes for Cirie. Eliza and Chet are the final choices (no surprise there) and head to their default teams, Eliza to Airai and Chet to Malakal, reuniting him with Joel. Oh joy.

Immediately we head into the most! dangerous! reward! challenge! ever! Tribes are playing for a barbecue meal - steak, sausage, veggies and wine - and no one will go to Exile Island (don't worry, Kathy, you'll be back there next week). But the game is a tough one - members of the team will pair up and be tied at the waist. Then one pair will chase another pair through an obstacle course....a most dangerous obstacle course....trying to steal a flag off the other team's back. If the chasers capture the flag within a minute, they get a point. If the other team evades them for a minute, they get the point. And we're off!

Malakal wins the right to choose, and decides to be chasers first. They send out Erik and Ozzy to chase Natalie and Kathy and it's just as you would imagine. Ozzy grabs Kathy's flag and scores the point. Then Parvati and Eliza chase the unlikely team of Joel and Chet and who paired those two up? Is Chet looking to get hurt, or what? Joel drags Chet along as he goes through the course, and Eliza manages to swipe Chet's flag off his back. They score a point, but also the first injury...Parvati has a nasty looking fat lip from banging her face on a tree branch. Ouch!

Next up, the A team - Ami and Amanda - chase the J team - James and Jason. Ami hurts herself jumping over a branch and it looks like a J point until James and Jason run past a tree - with each of them taking a different side. Oh, guys? That rope between you? Yep, it hits the tree and pulls Jason back to slam into it. Ouch ouch ouch! (And really really funny to watch.) James tries to go around the tree to free them, but only manages to tie them to it even more, and Ami takes advantage of the situation to steal their flag.

Our next match up is Jonathan-Alexis versus Cirie-Tracy. Jonathan-Alexis manage to get the flag, but Jonathan returns to his team wounded, his knee bleeding. Probst notices all the injuries going on - so he obviously knows this challenge is falling apart - and yet he allows it to continue. Boo, bad host!
