Minicap episode 8 Part Two in which Eric reveals the scoop!

Meanwhile, back on the beach….treemail! The tribes are instructed to choose a member of the opposing tribe who will sit out the next challenge and be sent to Exile Island. That member will also have immunity if his/her team loses the challenge, a combined reward/immunity venture. The challenge seems to have something to do with balance, and it looks like the winners will get a feast (as well as a night off from Tribal).

Jeff welcomes the tribes, and announces that Airai chose Ozzy to sit out. Not because he’s the leader or anything, of course, but because they all lurve him and a boy can never have too much immunity (unless, of course, that boy is named James). Speaking of which, James was Malakal’s original choice, but they crossed him off and chose Alexis instead. (Probably because they realized that no one actually knows who Alexis is.)

The challenge involves an obstacle course over water. Tribe members will navigate the course to reach and retrieve a flag while members of the opposing tribe will try to knock them off using weighted bags. If they fall off, they start all over. First tribe with five flags wins immunity and a pizza party. (Which, by the way, sounds like the best reward evah to me…fun food, no worries.)

Details: James and Natalie man the bags for Airai, while Cirie and Ami do the same for Malakal. Running will be Erik and Amanda (Malakal) and Jason and Eliza (Airai). Parvati sits this one out.

They’re off….and it’s immediately apparent that Erik is running for his life. The ice cream scooper (hee) leaps across entire portions of the course and brings home the first flag. He’s smacked in the head by one of the bags, but that just makes him more determined (and a bit dizzy), because he takes another leap and smacks his chest on the platform. Ouch!

Anyway, all that work (and pain) is for naught, as Jason and Eliza bring home Airai’s fourth immunity win in a row.

The Malakal members ask Erik how he is and he shows his chest (which didn’t seemed too damaged on my TV, but your high definition may vary). Ami notes that Erik is a good person, but pretty much doomed when it comes to the tribal council. (Ah, where’s the Fickle Finger of Fate award when you need one? Oh, it’s at the engraver’s, where they’re carefully stenciling Ami’s name.)

Over on Exile Island, Ozzy pretends to look for the idol so Alexis won’t know he already has it. In his “search,” he discovers that someone has found his fake idol, which tickles him to no end.

Feeling the heat, Erik decides not to melt away, and seeks out the scoop from the other tribe members. He decides to let Amanda and Cirie in on Ami’s plans with the fans. Of course, none of them worked, but she did indeed try, and heck, Erik certainly has nothing to lose by telling the truth. He lets them know he’ll be voting Ami, and welcomes them to do the same. (Of course.)

Ami joins them, asking if Erik’s been telling them everything. Again, of course. She says she’s always stuck by them and she always will. She adds she’s always felt left out by the favorites group. It all ends with a group hug.

Then Ami does something almost despicable. She approaches Erik and thanks him for cementing her bond with the other favorites. What? It just seems mean on Ami’s part, and makes Erik even more nervous. Which may be why he’s waiting for his man Ozzy to arrive back from Exile.

Eric fills Ozzy in on the whole story – including Ami’s scheme to out him in the last Tribal Council. Of course, Ozzy wants Ami out. But since he’s not the leader, will the others follow suit?

At Tribal, Ami gets all teary eyed about Ozzy’s statement concerning favorites at the bottom of the pecking order trying to turn things around. She says she knows he’s talking about her, and they never made her feel part of the tribe. She says she never would have voted with Tracy and Erik against Ozzy (although it was her idea!) and that the only vote she’d give Ozzy was for the million dollars.

To no avail. Ami votes Erik, and everyone else votes Ami. So a favorite says bye bye….right before the merge. (Spoiler!)
